Dahkil Hausif

Dahkil Hausif Griot

An award-winning storyteller and creative technologist weaving spirit, structure, and visual memory into collective life.

Sculpting the Narrative

For over 25 years, Dahkil has served as a lead editor for global brands like Dove, Champs Sports, Ford and Mastercard. Currently a Senior Editor at Bandit Editorial, he views the edit bay as a space for emotional translation rather than technical assembly.

By extracting the unique "vocabulary and language" of a project, he constructs nonlinear narratives that shift perception — ensuring the final cut resonates with the project's authentic pulse, translating what clients feel into what audiences experience.

His vocal artistry spans television, radio, and film for major brands including Sprite, Lincoln, and Canon.

Director. Writer. Creative Director

Dahkil's foundation as a storyteller began at Syracuse University (Newhouse) under the profound tutelage of the legendary Dr. Mĩcere Gĩthae Mũgo, where he embraced the sacred responsibility of the Griot. That grounding sparked a prolific, decades-long writing and directing partnership with Daoud Abeid, which recently reached a landmark milestone with their screenplay, Jabari's People, being acquired for direction by Oscar nominee Delroy Lindo.

As a NEW INC alum and creative technologist, his trajectory naturally bridged these narrative roots with immersive media, pioneering virtual and augmented reality experiences to champion accessibility and human rights.

Today, Dahkil's creative arsenal is fully integrated. Through deep collaborations with visual activist Russell Frederick (Darkroom Diaspora) and creative designers like Kaza Razat and Ramulas Burgess (Echoes), he utilizes new technologies, including generative AI and interactive AR, ethically and impactfully.

About Me

Bio · Experience · Board & Leadership · Education · Residencies · Awards · Press

Dahkil Hausif, a Griot of Agreements, is a storyteller of spirit and structure committed to weaving art, healing, and harmony into communal ecosystems. For close to three decades, he honed his craft as an acclaimed commercial film editor for global brands like Beats, Bvlgari, and ESPN, and as a professional voice-over artist, most notably as the signature voice behind ESPN's 30 for 30 campaigns.

Bringing this deep technical and narrative expertise to public art, Dahkil is a Creative Technologist and a former Laundromat Project Artist-in-Residence. He co-leads The Darkroom Diaspora, an advocacy-driven art collaborative utilizing augmented reality (AR) and ethical AI to preserve Black and Brown visual memory, culminating in the landmark "Griots of Visual Memory" public exhibition in Summer 2026. Later that summer his feature film script Jabari's People (co-written with Daoud Abeid) was purchased and filmed by Oscar nominee Delroy Lindo.

Beyond the screen, Dahkil designs intentional human operating systems. As a certified sociocracy consultant with Sociocracy For All and the co-founder of Men At Work Healing, he facilitates transformative collaborative governance for families, groups, and organizations, helping communities align their structures and move at the speed of trust.
